Malaysia National Day

 

RAAF Mirage IIIO No 75 Sqn RAAF Butterworth, Malaysia .

 

RAAF’s Mirages were based in RAAF Butterworth, Malaysia between 1967-1988 as part of the Australian’s government commitment to the defense of the region, At the peak, 40 RAAF Mirage IIIOs from 2 squadrons were present in Malaysia.

This kit was built OOB, some modification done include,  I rescribed all the panel line, the kit's instrument panel came in blank and Heller did not provide any decal for the panel, so I added some dials with plastic cards and. I also added detail on the ejection seat with Miliput.

 

I choose to paint this kit with the 3 colors lizard scheme with temporary yellow bands for aerial combat training. The colors used were from Gunze RAF Color set, Ocean Grey, Dark Green and Off White, the camo was done free hand.

 

 

Decal used from Microscale, the yellow triangle on the wings was taken from Microscale decal but the yellow tail was painted. white serial taken from my spare since Microscale do not provide them. The R530 Missile was taken from Hasegawa Mirage F1 kit
