Hello,
fellow modelers and readers. I want to share some photographs of models exposed
at the XIII Master Hobby Show that took place in
Caracas
,
Venezuela
, on June 11 and 12, 2011. The Master Hobby Show is an annual event organized by
the Club de Modelismo (Modelers Club) 2000. I’ll show the photographs in
several articles.
In
this article I’ll focus in airliners and aviation pioneers. I was surprised by
the high number of models from the Venezuelan now extinct airline VIASA (Venezolana
Internacional de Aviación, S.A.) that were exposed. These orange-tailed
airliners gave the exposition a touch of nostalgia.

Every
year there’s an open category dedicated to models of a specific country.
The country of this year was
France
. Surprisingly enough, the model that won the ‘gold’ prize in this
category was a cardboard model of a French airliner, a Latécoere (photo #
11.) Another eye catching model was a Junkers Ju-52 showing a complete
interior (photo # 12.) There were also two airliners in russian Aeroflot
markings, not a common sight indeed.
The
last two photographs are from planes designed and built by pioneers of the
aviation. One
is a cardboard model of the Clément Ader’s “Éole,” the other is a
vignette of the Kill Devil Hill’s dunes including the old Monogram model of
the Flyer from the Wright brothers in her historic first flight (I built one of
these when I was a teenager, and I’m still waiting for the release of the
Flyer in 1/72 scale.)
I
hope you’ll enjoy the photographs. Greetings from
Caracas
,
Venezuela
.
