Germany National Day

In honor of Tag der Deutschen Einheit, I present my 1/72nd Eduard L-39ZO Albatros for your viewing pleasure.  I used a CMK resin cockpit, control surfaces, and wheels to enhance the already nice Eduard kit.  Decals are a combination of kit, Hi-Decal, TOM, and homemade.  I used Bare Metal Foil on the intakes.  The AA-2 ATOLL missiles were from the DML Russian Weapons set and the AA-2 pylons are from an Eastern Express MiG-21 kit.  The rocket pods came from the spares box.

This model depicts "Black 50" as it appeared in Holzdorf, East Germany in 1985.  East German L-39s were kept fairly clean and had a glossy finish.  So, the weathering was kept to a minimum and I added a dark gray panel line wash to enhance the kit details.

Mit freundlichen Grüßen,

John King
