Hi, this is my 1/72 Italeri MiG-29 UB of the Romanian Air Force.
The story of the Romanian MiG-29s started in the final month of the Cold War, December 1989, it was the last acquisition from the USSR and unfortunately it ended very quickly, in 2001 the entire fleet was grounded in favor of the MiG-21 Lancer program.

The MiG-29 was by far the most advanced fighter of the Romanian Air Force, with a total number of 21 (4 Fulcrum
UB, 16 Fulcrum A from USSR and 1 Fulcrum C from the Republic of Moldova) it was based on Mihail Kogalniceanu Airport – 57th airbase near the Black Sea. I was lucky to see the MiG-29 for the last time in
August 2001 with my parents and as far as I remember it was the last aircraft able to fly at that time.
Ironically the great interceptor MiG-29 was abandoned on the fields for the old single-engined F-16 which will enter in the Romanian inventory starting 2015. From this point of view I really admire the Polish Air Force which still operates the MiG-29 along with the NATO F-16s.
My next project will be the MiG-23, also based on the 57th air base.
