Hi
This is the Tarangus 1/48 J 32B Lansen kit.  Nicknamed "Lansen Sport" it was the all-weather fighter interceptor version developed from the A 32A Lansen attack version.  The J 32B had a more powerful engine and bigger guns (4x30mm compared to 4x20mm in the A 32A).

My model depicts J 32B s/n 32512 from F21 in Lulea, wearing exercise markings in 1959.

It took me little over a year to complete, with a lot of scratch built items and aftermarket sets from Maestro Models.

The major scratch built items are:

  • Full length vacuformed intake ducts with a engine front.

  • Speed brake housings.

  • A new rear cockpit tub and many other items in the cockpit.

  • Main wheel well is totally rebuilt with lots of piping added and the same goes for the nose gear bay.

  • Lots of extras added to the landing gears including totally rebuilt drag linkages.

The following PE-sets from Maestro Models where also used; Early J 32 interior set, exterior set, speed brakes and ladder. Also a pitot tube from Maestro was added.

It's painted mainly with Gunze colors and Alclad II lacquers for the metal parts.  Weathered with lightened basecolor using the salt technic and highlighting the center of each panel.

Panel lines where highlighted with an umber oil wash and streaks and grime was added using more oil under the belly.  Everything was then finished of with a flat coat of ocean lack.

The sidewinders come from the Eduard brassin range and the rocket launchers are made from Maestro Models extra tanks for the J 35 Draken.  The weapons are painted in green inert colors. The small text are woodland scenics dry transfers.

This was quite demanding build of a short range kit, but with some TLC I'm pleased with the outcome.

Best regards,

Johan Elvin
