Hi, this is my 1/48 Hasegawa F-14A Tomcat in the markings of VF-84 "Jolly Rogers". This is Cat 201, BuNo 162692, Desert Storm August 1991. She was painted with the special Skull and Crossbones on the tail similar to that of days gone by when it was possible to see this style on VF-84's F-4B Phantom II and given a fresh coat of Gloss Gull Grey for her homecoming Fly In.

I used a fair amount of resin on this build which includes an Aires cockpit, exhaust nozzles, Verlinden forward avionics bay, Wolfpack refueling bay and Wheeliant weighted wheels. All these resin parts fitted nicely, I used Gunze paint and Alclad II paint for the metal areas. Eduard's fabric seat belts were used and although very fiddly they do make a nice addition to the seats. The decals came from Fightertown Decals and were their typical high standard, very good to use. The air intake and exhaust nozzle covers I scratchbuilt and put custom made Skull and Crossbones on the exhaust covers.

I opened up a section of the spine just back from the RIO's seat and scratchbuilt the detail that lays in that section. I also scratchbuilt an engine cart from looking at a couple of pics I had, it's mostly Evergreen Strip and other bits from my spares box. I took from the HobbyBoss kit one of the engines and added some more detail to it so that it is displayed on the cart.
