After I built the Christen Eagle II http://www.arcair.com/Gal15/14001-15100/gal14094-Amodel-Christen-Eagle-II/00.shtm  I wanted to add the single seater to my collection. It´s almost the same kit, just the canopy and its frame is replaced by the short one. I wanted to show the biplane airborne with smoke.

For the cockpit I adapted a pilot figure from Preiser (1:87, matching very well) and to fit the display later I added a plastic block with two holes where the exhaust tubes are.

The decals coming with the kit show an Eagle with British registration and need to be handled very carefully, otherwise they break. They nestle very well to the glossy painted surface, but they look silver, so a lot of decal softener was used to make them look good (from
http://www.tailormadedecals.com/).

For the smoke I fitted two bended wires between two sheets of Depron (foam material) and gave a smoke-structure to it. I sealed the surface with epoxy to make it hard and stable. Finally I sprayed silk white over it.

With the smoke it looks very spectacular in my collection and I enjoyed making this challenging kit!

Greetings from Germany!
