This model is an Hobbyboss 1/72 French Dassault Rafale C (monoplace FAF). This kit is from the box except decals coming from Authentic decals 72-64. I decided to show this bird with an attractive paint scheme from EC 2-30 Normandie Niemen nicknamed Neu-Neu (in slang French stupid) for the squadron 70 years anniversary. This squadron is very well known in France, it was created by French volunteers during second world war in 1942 to 1945 on the eastern front in Russia with Soviet planes. In 2011/2012 based at Mont de Marsan AB this squadron used for the first time Rafale C (primary task aerial defence, second task bombing mission, third task Ground special force support). Decals are very accurate (stripes arrows & star, badges, and all small markings) but not easy to fit, I repainted in red (AKAH red 73150) the star upper decal, it had a lot of cracks. I followed Authentic decals instructions regarding colors except for the upper grey. Humbrol grey 128 for lower delta wings, fuselage and Humbrol green 30 and mix grey 144/87 for the the upper camouflage fuselage and wings. The external exhaust is painted with a mix of gun metal and stainless and landing gear in aluminium from Gunze Paint Range.

I show the bird with two external fuel tanks, and empty pylons for air air missiles end of each wings. This specific plane was coded 118-IX. I also opened the canopy to show the cockpit. It was a pleasure to build a so attractive and decorated plane. I like this squadron for its history. It is very strange to see a plane with both French roundels and Soviet stars. This squadron played a big role in war against ISIS in Syria/Iraq area based in Jordan during Chammal operation.

I hope you will enjoy my model.
