Near the end of the war, Canada like everyone else noticed the Mustang was a great plane. After the war ended the RCAF bought a couple hundred to equip its reserve squadrons and a couple regular units. As cutback after cutback continued those squadrons had to give up their fighters and switch to utility airframes. Mostly Otters, then Kiowas and now..well all but two squadrons are gone. So lets go back to the fifties and look at a fun airframe.

The Tamiya Mustang is a true wonder kit. The detail is SO many levels above the competition its just sad. For the competition that is. However, a kit this nice does of course come with a hefty price tag. If I had not found a lightly started one at a really great price I would never have built one. You really learn about the model by building it. SO many parts. Cockpit, engine its all there. In SUCH detail. Now, my kit was missing a few things, like the magnets but I finished it. This time unlike my last 1/32 Mustang by Dragon I made fewer mistakes. Most noticeable I did not put the wheels on backwards like I did last time.

For markings I went with 402 "City of Winnipeg". Now, 402 still exists but its no longer a reserve fighter squadron but the Navigation training squadron flying 4 Dash 8 Gonzos. The decals are from Leading Edge.
