Silly Week 2020

When my wife to be and I met in high school in 1967, it was love at first sight! We were both smitten and now we are approaching our 50th Wedding Anniversary. Still in love!

In 1969 I was driving a 1951 Ford and she a 1965 Pontiac GTO. We both liked cars and spent time at the drag races and car shows.

The diorama depicts a scene in time that I remember driving down her street and seeing a familiar form under the hood of her bright red Pontiac. I had promised for weeks to change the faulty dashpot that was causing the 389 engine to stall in traffic.

Clearly, she got tired of my procrastination and decided to change it herself, and this is how I remember the scene.

The Models
My 1951 Ford was built from the AMT 1949 Ford kit with modifications to replicate my daily driver.

Her 1965 Pontiac GTO was built from the Monogram 1964 GTO kit out of the box with Bare Metal Foil trim.

Both models were painted with Tamiya rattle can lacquer.

The figures are from Master Box Ltd. and painted with Model Master enamel.
