Here is my attempt at
Revellís F-14 Tomcat in 1/48 scale. I had attempted to convert the A model to
B by using kit supplied exhaust nozzle. The kit does not supply fuel tanks,
LANTIRN or the chin pod for later BĎcats, so I decided to scratch build the
TCS/ALQ pod and omit the fuel tanks and LANTIRN. Otherwise, the model is built
OOB with the exception of decals. The decals used are a mix of old Academyís
F-14 kit decals and Jasmine Modelís ďVF-104 Jolly Rogers 60 YearsĒ
offering for 1/48 scale. Decalís quality was mostly okay.
I rescribed the panel lines along the kitís raised lines without correction. The aircraft is fully hand painted using craft acrylics and artistís acrylic additives such as flow medium and matte medium. Weathering is also done using the same acrylic paints. The model sits on a hand crafted and painted stand as an in-flight posture.
Iím glad to build my second
favorite Tomcat and I like the result.
I really enjoyed building this model and hope you enjoy the photos.
