So I decided to treat myself a couple of months ago to the fantastic 1/32 Tamiya kit of the F-4J. WOW was I impressed. Having been away from building kits for may years now I wanted to do something special. I have always loved the Phantom from being a young child so it seemed the obvious choice. I toyed with the idea of starting with a 1/72 or maybe 1/48th scale but looking around I managed to find a new kit on good old eBay going for half the cost of the RRP in my local mode shop.

I wouldn't say the build is as good as many on here as I am a newbie to doing a kit of this size and level of detail. I built it straight from the box apart from some resin seats. The paint finish etc was all done using Tamiya spray and painting by hand. I did buy myself an airbrush for this kit but couldn't master the technique well enough to touch the plain with it (something I'll have to work on for the next kit).

I was very happy with the results, especially with it being my first large scale plane ever and my first model in probably over 15 years. I now have a nice collection of tools, paints etc all geared up for the next kit (Academy 1/32 FA-18, keep a look out for this) Hopefully you will enjoy looking at the pictures of this excellent plane and kit. I would suggest anyone to make this kit now or in the future as its just as I remember Tamiya to be. Great fit (little filler needed) excellent detail although I understand there are a few flaws for the super detail guys out there.

If you have any questions about the kit or how I did the weathering etc then please drop me a line anytime....Thanks
Paul
