  Indonesia "Remembrance" day  2004

In late 1986, Indonesia placed an order for 12 F-16s. Under the code name Peace Bima-Sena, 8 F-16As and 4 F-16Bs were delivered  by 1989. Like several export countries, Indonesia decided to add their own unique camo scheme called the 'Blue Spot' scheme. It consisted of three tones of blue, in a wrap-around camo scheme. Thus making Indonesia the only country to wear such a scheme. The scheme was replaced in 1999, with a two-tone Fulcrum style camo, called the 'Millennium' scheme that they wear to this day.

The uniqueness of the scheme attracted me to it immediately. Second to my affinity for the Venezuelan camo, I was drawn to this Blue Spot scheme for a long time. Aztec once again came to the rescue with a superb sheet of both the Blue Spot and Millennium schemes (see my review for more details).

Being a big fan of the family model Vipers, I couldn't resist making a/c #TS-1602, the second of four F-16Bs delivered. The kit is V5, cockpit is Black Box.

Paint is Model Master. A note on the colors....the instructions specify FS35414 for the light blue color. This is much too turquoise and rich, and does not match any of the pics I had. Duck Egg Blue FS25622, is a much better match. FS35164 Intermediate Blue and FS35109 FS Blue round out the all blue scheme. The camo was very tricky to apply and it being wrap-around made it even more challenging. Nothing some paper masks and tac worms couldn't handle though! Though in itself it took about 6 hours to paint. The results are well worth it, as you can see here.

Future coats came next, and the decals went on flawlessly. A wash with my fave-The Detailer, and she was ready for dullcoat, which went on like silk. My ref pics showed an interesting loadout of fuel tanks, with a baggage pod on Sta, 7. I emulated this loadout, and also saw a pic with some AIM-9Js on the wingtips. Something you don't see everyday, so I mixed the two loadouts.

Another thoroughly enjoyable Viper build for me, and couldn't have been timed better. I dedicate this to all our Indonesian ARC brethren out there. Enjoy your day!
