The Harrier was one of the first
kit I built when I started making models twenty-some years ago …before I took
a long long break …..In between those twenty-some years, I did my military and
reserve service in a Bridging Combat Engineers Battalion…… So this is a
‘Reminiscence Project’ . The scene depicts a Dusk Attack
that is lead by British Challenger tank with Infantry Platoon support and aided
in the crossing a water obstacle by a
German Leopard Biber Bridge layer tank…and of course,… support in the air by
the British Harrier GR.7 circa late
90’s This Harrier is from Italeri.
It is fairly inaccurate with raised panel lines that don’t match the
location on the instruction sheet and box.
The decal were thin and great to apply,.. bites into the panel line when
used together with Gunze Mr Mark Softer …but
again, inaccurate,… the sharkmouth was too large. The only ‘extras’ were the
pilot from Hasegawa aircraft crew set and the ejection seat from another kit to
replace the over-simplified version from the kit.
Amour kits are by Revell Model was air brushed using Gunze Arcylic. The only ‘new’ approach that
I took when building this aircraft was the weathering of the panel lines of this
Harrier. Instead of the usual
‘oil wash’, I applied
MMP
weathering power. This save me from the messy and smelly effort of the panel
line wash. The end result was that
it was still able to give a good visual effect of weathering that the amour
folks have known for quite a while….I did not sealed up the ‘weathering’
but I think it will be a good practice to do it with Future or any clear coat
plus a layer of top coat. If you like a closer look at the
Scene, here’s where to go
