This is my 1:32
Matchbox Bf-109E that I finished a few months ago. I had this kit in my stash
since the early 80's. I'd been waiting for awhile for companies to come out with
accessories. Finally I got enough to start the kit.
I'm going to skip
the history. So many articles have been written on this aircraft.
Most of the aftermarket accessories that I have is made for the Hasegawa
kit. I made a new instrument panel from plastic sheet. I used the
instrument bezels and dials from Reheat photoetch. I replaced the cockpit
tub with True details. I had to thin the fuselage walls a bit. I cut
some of the True details cockpit wall to fit around the new instrument
panel. I scratchbuilt a new propeller hubs, supercharger intake, and
slats. The Cutting Edge wheel wells are too small, so I scratchbuilt new
ones. I added details and a new bulkhead in the tail landing gear wells.

I used the wheels from True
Details and added brake lines on the landing gear struts. I used the Squadron
vac canopies but the rear part doesn't fit. It's too narrow. I used the kit part
instead. The windshield and forward cowling fits but I have to shave off the kit
gun cowling a little to match the Squadron vac. I added grab handles and
wires that prevents the canopy hinges from breaking.
The model represents Major Hans
Assi Hahn's white "13" aircraft. I used Model Master RLM 70, 02
and 65 paints for the camouflage. The decals are from Eagle
Editions. I made antenna wires from stretch sprue and springs from copper
wires. I weathered the model by painting wing and cockpit sill scratches,
exhaust stains and tire dirt. I hope you enjoy it.
