There are photos of
ProModeler's 1/48 Ta 154, which I found to be a very nice kit. I used Eduard's
photoetched detail set, which really filled out the cockpit. Included on the
fret is a boarding ladder and antennas.

The rear of the
instrument panel is visible under the windscreen, so I added fine copper wires,
painted with Color of Eagles RLM 04. The Eduard set features sidewalls for the
radar operator's compartment, which covered the oxygen regulator molded to the
kit's sidewall. I shaved one from a Hasegawa Bf 109, and added the hoses from
wire and solder. The pilot's instrument coaming is photoetched, so I added the
missing padding from solder.
The entire airframe was painted
with Model Master RLM 76, followed by the RLM 75 mottles. These were sprayed
freehand, using photos for reference.
The kit's decals were
troublesome. They broke apart when I tried to remove them from the sheet, even
after I brush coated them with Future. The wing walks were a chore, trying to
align them from the broken segments and keep them in a straight line.
I filled the engine nacelles with
folded pieces of lead shielding that I bought at a hardware store. This kit
needs plenty of weight to keep it's tail in the air.
This kit was built as part of a
nightfighter project, building three kits simultaneously. The others (Trimaster
Me 262A, Dragon Me 262B) and this one were completed in about six weeks.
