1/72 Kopro XFY-1 POGO

This Kopro model was very cheap, and it looked weird, so I just had to buy it. But when I started working on it the disappointment just kept getting bigger. The instructions were a little confusing, but it isn't hard to build a simple model like this without them. The cast is also poorly done. And the decals aren't exactly the best I ever saw...

There were problems from the start, but that's what modeling is all about, right?

Building the cockpit was very confusing, and the instructions didn't help much. The pilot's seat was too big. I had to cut it a little bit so the canopy could fit properly. The fuselage was very good and there weren't any problems. One of the four wings was slightly curved, as you can see in the pictures. The canopy was surprisingly well done and it it was very easy to work with it, even easier than most of my Revell models. The engine intake covers were scratchbuilt from aluminium foil and then painted. I thought that the four thin landing wheels wouldn't be strong enough to hold the model. Thank God I was wrong about that!

The decals were probably the most dissappointing thing in this kit. There is a lot of silvering, although gloss coat was applied before I put the decals on. Some of the decals also broke in half while I handled them, but that didn't stop me! Matt coat was painted after the decals were dry.

This was probably my most complicated build, but it was enjoyable!
