This is only my
second model (as an adult at least, having revisited the hobby following a trip
to a museum with my 3 year old son!) and to me it represents everything I loved
about making these kits as a boy. I was always drawn to the beautiful artwork on
the matchbox kits, and the Wessex in particular, even if the standard of the moulding
and detail is/was woefully basic. I have to be honest, even though this kit
was built OOB, there are still areas where, if I had the kit over again, I would
have paid more attention, for example the rail on which the starboard sliding
window rests - could have done with being filled flush, and many other issues
that only became apparent as I gained more experience. All in all though, I'm
very proud of this build, principally because it marked my return to a hobby I
had completely forgotten.
