Bf-109 G-6 Early

Hi, here are some photos of my recently completed Bf-109 G-6 "Early" flown by Maj. Horst Carganico of II/JG5 in Alakurtti, Finland, during the spring of 1944.

Here you can see a close-up view of the cockpit already painted and ready to be installed in the fuselage.  The weathering is done with some thinned oil paint and applied with a fine brush.  There is also some drybrushing done here and there with light grey.  Only the shoulder harness are missing.

The overall kit is superb and it comes with very finely engraved panel lines.  It was a real pleasure to build.  For this project, I used some aftermarket details like an Aires engine and cockpit set, Eduard  Photo-Etched set, Eagle Cals decals, CMK resin pilot and True Details resin wheels Set.

The quality of the Aires Detail Set is very good and all elements fit pretty well.  The whole model was painted and weathered with Model Master Enamels.  The paintwork was a bit long because I wanted to replicate a very dirty aircraft with a lot of shading to give a feeling of a tired and overused aircraft in difficult weather conditions.

The engine was also a big challenge because I wanted to replicate all of the fuel, hydraulics and electrical wires.

Finally, I represented the aircraft on a small diorama base to give more realism...
