This is a
commissioned model of the Fw 200 Condor recently released by
Trumpeter.
It took me about 2
months to finish. There is a lot of work that could be done on the interior,
however only a minimal part of it you can see once the fuselage is together. I
have stuck to the basics and built it straight out of the box, with the
exceptions being the ribbing on the fuselage interior opposite the opened door,
and cockpit seatbelts.

I think this kitset
is of exceptional quality and the only errors I have encountered have been
builder errors. As this kitset was still relatively new when I started it, I
could only find 2 reviews on it, which did bring to light the need for
internal strengthening for the wings. This was done by adding some balsa strips
inside the wings, as the plastic near the wing roots is pretty thin and had a
tendency to flex with the weight. I did have trouble where the wing root meets
the fuselage, however I think it was created by an error I made, so many hours
of sanding superglue proceeded. I can however be very confident I have a very
strong wing join now. Apart from that the kit fits very well together, I was
particularly impressed with the strength and fit of the undercarriage.
The kitset was
masked up using Tamiya tape and sprayed with Humbrol enamels, which went on
well. Future was applied before the decals went on. I am still learning the art
of post shading, where I used chalk pastels, so my approach was a bit on the
timid side. Finally a cote of flat enamel was sprayed over the entire model.
The end result I am very pleased
with.
