1/32 Revell UH-1D

by Charles Johnson

--------------------

Finally decided to build another UH-1D. So I got hold of the old Revell UH-1D kit which is now as old as the hills but still a good kit to make despite its age.
Starting with the interior I trashed the old pilot seats and inserted the Cobra Company pilot seats with a little bit of work fit very nice into the kit. Then it was onto the main cabin again trashing the old seats I decided to make my own using plastic tubing and shaping to the right shape then adding kitchen alumnimum foil covered the frame and then painted them in olive drab. I added bench seats door gunner seats and two jump type seats behind the pilots. Also added M-60 plus door mounts also from Cobra Company.

Painting the model was easy using Model Masters Olive Drab for the overall finish and  painting the upper sides of the main blades olive drab also.  I painted flat black underneath the main rotor head old silver for the finish then sprayed model with Model master Dull Coat to tone down paint then put a coat of Gloss.  I then started to apply the decals which came from Fireball Model Works and needed a little work but go on very nice (gives you a choice of 6 different Hueys from Vietnam). Once decals where in place I added a touch of solverset and finally another coat of Dull Varnish to tone it all down again.

My Special Thanks to The Cobra Company for there 1/32nd scale after market products and to Joseph Osborn at Fireball Modelworks for the fine and precise decals.
