I just finished the great 1/48
Tamiya Spitfire Mk Vb Trop. What a great kit. Tamiya has really made a
winner here. I think the Volkes filter looks cool on this plane.
This
looks like an aircraft Jay Leno would fly.
This model wears decals from AeroMaster's "Defenders of Malta, part
II" so I could make the Spit for top scoring Canadian Ace, George
"Screwball" Beurling. He shot down 31 aircraft in the war.
I still suck at airbrushing, so I handpainted most of this bird. The colors
are accurate, Azure Blue, Middlestone, and Dark Earth.
There are many aerial shots on the web of Malta. I found a great one to
use as a backdrop for my digital diorama. A recent Stuka build helped me
create an unfortunate Stuka crew that ran into Beurling over Malta.
This is now part of my "Aces in 1:48 Scale" collection of
digital dioramas on my website. For more, see www.shortfuse3d.com.
