Josef
Wurmheller began his pilot training in 1937 and by the summer of '38 was serving
with 2./Jg334. When World War 2 started, Unteroffizer Wurmheller was
serving with JG 53. His first Victory was a Fairey Battle near Saarbrucken
in 1939. From the fall of '39 to the spring of 1940, Wurmheller became an instructor
but he rejoined JG 53 for the Battle of Britain. He survived 2 ditches into the channel.
On
April 1, 1943 Wurmheller was appointed Staffelkapitan of 9./Jg2 and scored
his 70th victory on the 17 of May. After his 90th
victory he was appointed Gruppenkommandeur of III./JG2. On June 22
1944 Wurmheller was killed in action during aerial combat with fighters
near Alencon
when he collided with his wingman.

Josef “Sepp” Wurmheller achieved 102 victories, with 93
victories on the western front, and at least 20 four engine bombers

is Tamiya’s 1/48 Fw 190A-3 with Aftermarket decals. The kit was
very easy to assemble and had nice detail. I only added seatbelts.
The medel was painted with Model Master enamels.
