1/48 Tamiya F4U-1A Corsair

Ok ok ok - I know - you've all seen this specific model built 146 times before.  Well, I wasn't going to let that get in my way because I like Corsairs just as any self-respecting aviation fan should.  This was my first shot at using an airbrush, and my modeling skills are still a work in progress, so you pros will have to go easy on me.

I built it completely OOB and kept it reasonably accurate, but I did take a few liberties that may or may not upset the natives.

This is a loose depiction of a Navy plane based on a Soloman Islands around 1943 (although I didn't present the paint as being very faded, so I guess this would be a relatively fresh arrival).  I used a couple techniques explained here to paint and weather the plane, so I'm grateful to the people on this site for the help and knowledge.  ModelMaster enamels were the staple with a couple acrylics here and there.

I plan on eventually building a nice lazy tropical display spot for it, so wish me luck with that.

This is my first submission to the site.  Humble thanks to Steve for putting in all the time to run everything!
