These are my little
buffaloes. The gray one is the excellent Hasegawa kit, improved with the
Eduard photoetched set. The assembling was straightforward and the result was
very good. The simple paint scheme made the things easier. A bit of
weathering: a lighter gray shade in some panels and a wash on the
lines. Stain on the exhausts and guns. Decals from spares. The F2A-2 of
Fighting Squadron Three (VF-3) in early 1941, that deployed aboard USS
Saratoga is ready!

Since I am a naval planes
modeler, the next model, the camoufaged model 339E Buffalo Mk I, is a
"new face" in my bench. But, it's ok, the original F2A was
a naval fighter. It's the Airfix kit with rescribed panel lines and
scratch improvements on the cockpit. The kit decals for the letters
and codes were used. The roundels came from spares. I added some
weather in this plane too. The model represents the Buffalo from
No. 453 Sqn., Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), Sembawang, Singapore,
December 1941.
My main reference
was the Squadron book "F2A in action". That's it, I
hope you enjoy. Thanks gentlemen.
Helinton
