In my day job as
painter and decorator I met Katherine who makes things out of glass,
Tiffany and jewellery and other lovely decorative objects. www.number8glass.co.uk
We were chatting and I asked if she would make a display case if I
gave her the specifications. This was done and I got a case for my R.F.C. and
early R.A.F. with a roundel in the corner. We were amazed and really
pleased to notice the mirror back and base completed the roundel. I
have also one made up with a quarter of the World War 1 German cross to house '
the other side'. If anyone is interested I will post some more images.
I have been
collecting aircrew from a variety of sources and in any scale that was
available. My thanks go to Steve Warrilow of Fusilier for the big men. I think
he captures atmosphere and character of those men who flew and fought in those
machines. Just stand next to a Bleriot or similar and get scared. I did. not
only were these things flown but to fight in them as well is just terrifying,
and I am only thinking about it not really doing it.
I think that there
should be an Aircrew Section in the gallery for ARCers who just want to see
pilots etc. I don't mean to offend anyone here it just seems more appropriate. As
aircraft types are in categories maybe we should do the same for those who ride
in them
