I thought it was
time that I show off my first model that I have made jointly with my
husband as a commission for a friend who used to work on the HAR.3A's
on 22 squadron. The model kit is excellent, it has a good amount of detail and required
little filler. We used the Eduard pre-painted photo etch set with skua missiles
and a combination of the kit decals, a separate number and
letter sheet so that we could make ZH543 and the Airfix decals for the
22 squadron logo.

To make the model more
realistic we also scratch built a few parts including the stretcher, tool
box, bags, life raft, many interior parts and search and rescue
camera underneath the left hand sponson. The kit contains parts for
the 3A but doesn't include them in the instructions so we had to
research which ones went where, which took a long time but was
well worth it as our friend knew every inch of the helicopter and if it
wasn't on he wanted it included. The model was lightly weathered with
pro modeller weathering wash. The case is perspex and came from from just
bases. Other than that I'll let the pictures speak for themselves, I still
wish I could have kept this model, it was so difficult to hand over
to its new owner at the end.
Overall this was an
enjoyable build and an interesting exercise in modelling as a husband and wife
team. It worked surprisingly well!
