This is a new decal
sheet from Cutting
Edge Modelworks. The sheet includes markings for 3 different Bell
X-1E's in 1/48 scale.
On October 14,
1947, over dry Rogers Lake in California, Yeager rode the X-1, attached to
the belly of a B-29 bomber, to an altitude of 7600 m (25,000 ft). He then
released the aircraft from the B-29 and rocketed to an altitude of 12,200
m (40,000 ft). Yeager became the first person to break the sound barrier,
safely taking the X-1 to a speed of 1065 km/h (662 mph), faster than the
speed of sound at his altitude. Eight months later, in June of 1948, the
Air Force announced the record to the public.
This decal
sheet focuses on 3 different test flights of the Bell X-1E plane # 6063 as
flown by the NACA.
Two of the
test flights featured on this decal sheet had the "Little Joe"
nose art on the aircraft.
The decals were flawlessly printed and the clear
carrier film is trimmed very close to the crisply printed colored areas, which
is always good to see.
The instructions
are clear and easy to follow and an extra page of text instruction with a small bit of info on each
plane is also included.
A very nice product
and highly recommended.
