Product Article by Steve Bamford on May 11 2004

This is a re-release of a previously available sheet from Twobobs.  Lots of requests from customers have made Bob Sanchez decide to go ahead and give this sheet another go!

There are four different aircraft represented on this sheet from the heydays of Top Gun.  There are enough markings for all four jets that are represented on this sheet.

Plane #1 is a desert camo A-4E Bu#151059 with VA-126.  The colours for this striped Skyhawk are Brown FS 30219 and Sand FS 33531 on the topside and Grey FS 36495 on the underside.  This jet wears the Red #32 with a thin yellow outline on the forward fuselage below the windscreen.  This is a NAVY jet, so is does have the word NAVY on the rear of the fuselage and to complete the Soviet look there is a Red star with a thin white outline on the tail.  In the centre of the Red Star is the front profile line drawing of an A-4. lane #2 is an Adversary Blue/Grey A-4E Bu#152067 with VF-45.  The colours for this  Skyhawk are Dark Blue FS35109, Dark Grey FS36320 and light Grey FS36622 on the topside and Light Grey FS36622 on the underside.  This jet wears the Red #11 with a thin yellow outline on the forward fuselage below the windscreen.  This is a NAVY jet, so is does have the word NAVY on the rear of the fuselage and to complete the Soviet look there is a Red star with a thin yellow outline on the tail with the blue letter "AD" below the star on the tail.

Plane #3 is an Adversary Desert/Jungle scheme A-4E Bu#151095 "Jester" from the movie Top Gun.  The colours for this  Skyhawk are Yellow FS20400, Dark Brown FS30117 and Dark Green FS34079 on the topside and underside.  This jet wears the dark blue #55 on the forward fuselage below the windscreen.  This is a NAVY jet, so is does have the word NAVY in yellow on the rear of the fuselage and on the tail is the Top Gun logo.

Plane #4 is an Adversary Jungle scheme A-4E Bu#149656 NFWS.  The colours for this  Skyhawk are Dark Brown FS34086 and Dark Green FS34092 and Dark Green FS34079 on the topside and underside.  This jet wears the dark red #54 on the forward fuselage below the windscreen.  This is a USMC jet, so is does have the word MARINES in red on the rear of the fuselage and on the tail is the Top Gun logo.

There are 4 pages of instructions and they lay it out very clearly with 4 view colour drawings of all 4 planes and paint colour called out in FS#'s as well as Humbrol, Testors and Gunze Sangyo.  This is effectively a double decal sheet, because you get markings for all 4 planes and 4 pages of instructions instead of the usual 2.  Some decals are multi-layered to ensure perfect registration and due to the complicated camo schemes.....some of the markings are done in 2 different colours with a demarcation line on the markings between the two colours where the markings cross from one camo  colour to another.  This is the only tricky part of this decal sheet......getting your camo schemes masked just right for the markings that cross over camo demarcation lines and change colours.  Go slow and all will be fine.

This sheet is available through http://www.twobobs.net/ and select US Hobby Shops.  Overseas customers can purchase these from Twobobs site or through Twobobs network of overseas distributors.  Remember, shipping is always FREE to US Customers at Twobobs!!
