This new decal sheet from Cutting Edge Modelworks includes markings for two different 1/48 P-47 Thunderbolts.

The first aircraft is a P-47C-5-RE Razorback with 4 FG/334 FS flown by Lt Ralph Hofer from Debden, England in the fall of 1943.  The paint scheme for this aircraft is the early olive drab scheme with olive drab on top and grey on the underside.  There is a while engine cowl ring on the front of the engine cowling and a white stripe going across the tail.  The nose art is a boxing mule with the yellow text that reads "Missouri kid Sho-Me".  The Mule in the artwork is a mule wearing boxing gloves and boxing shorts standing on it's hind legs in a classic boxing pose.  The artwork for this aircraft has a white decal to go underneath the noseart decal.

The second plane is a P-47M-1-RE flown by Lt. Russ Kyler out of Boxted, England in early 1945.  The topside colour on this Jug is a unique "midnight blue" and the instruction go into this in more depth.  This P-47 has 10 kill markings and noseart of a strawberry blonde on the side of the forward engine cowling.  The forward engine cowling ring is red as well as the rudder on the tail. The artwork of this aircraft has white decals to go underneath the noseart decal.  The noseart decals are delicate and two are included for each plane in case you mess up the first ones.  Exacting instructions are included on how to prepare and install these decals…..read these instructions carefully to avoid disaster.  Apparently these noseart decals are very thin and need special care, but once installed they will look very accurate and realistic.  The nose art decals are printed on a one piece decal sheet, so you’ll need to cut the decal free from the rest of the decal film…..patience is the key here.  The noseart decal is beautifully printed with fantastic detail and lovely shading.
The instructions are clear and include  views of each aircraft and an extra 2 pages of text instructions and one of line drawing showing decal placement is included with a small bit of info about both the planes as well as helpful tips for decal application.

A very nice decal sheet and  sure to please the lucky 300 people that manage to buy one of these limited edition sheets.
