Here's a quick
review on the 1/32 F-14A Afghan War Update Set. This set is designed for
the Tamiya F-14A, 1994 Version (this version has the updated NACA gun vents),
but with some careful fitting, this set can most likely be adapted to fit the
Revell F-14A as well.
WHAT YOU GET:
Seven parts cast in gray resin. The parts include the ALR-45 ECM bulges
for the outside of the intake lips, GPS 'golf ball' antenna, and the taller IFF
antenna, found on the spine just aft of the cockpit. A replacement nose
gear door with ECM fairing is also supplied. The one-page instruction
sheet provides clear, brief, and concise instructions on installing the updates
to the model. As an added bonus, you get an extra IFF and GPS antenna with
the set (just in case you lose or break one). My review sample was well
cast in the now-familiar Cutting Edge gray resin. The set was complete
with no broken or missing parts, and was cleanly cast with no voids or bubbles.
This set is an excellent way to update your Tamiya or Revell F-14A to modern
standards. I'd like to thank Cutting
Edge Modelworks for providing me with this review sample.
