F-16A/B Falcon,
standard stencils data Belgian Air Force and others
These decals
from Syhart
Decals are printed
on the standard light blue waterslide backing paper and the review sample is
1/48 scale.
Decal sheet 48-905
represents enough registration numerals to represent Belgian F-16AM aircraft
numbers FA-01 to FA-136 or F-16BM FB-01 to FB-24. National roundels and tail fin
flashes are included for one Belgian, one Turkish, one Portuguese, one Italian
and one Dutch aircraft (only Belgian and Netherlands in 1/32) although no
serials or squadron badges are included. There is also complete stencil data for
all components of the aircraft for one complete F-16A or B version Old style and
New styles (also suitable for F-16C/D).
Belgian squadron
tail art is also included in two variations with the grey "FS" tail
code present for 2 Wing Belgian Air Force based at Florennes. The decal sheet
will depict the current Afghanistan deployed aircraft, again check your
resources.
There are sufficient
stencil decals included to denote all past and all current versions of the
Belgian F-16A and B with the exception of other squadron bands which would have
to be sourced from elsewhere.
Also included in the
very comprehensive instructions is a separate instruction sheet showing the
differences between the European blocks and MLU. It also shows the different
tail packs and lights, gun ports and tail fin light / antennae combinations.
Very useful for building European versions of the F-16.

The set also includes stencil
data for four AIM-9L Sidewinders, six "gas bags" and four AIM-120B
Amraam missiles (similar stencil data for other user countries in different
colours so check references).
The decals themselves are screen
printed NOT Alps. The markings are all in register and there is no colour
bleeding discernible in my set. The roundels are well depicted and the colours
vibrant. The instructions are in English and are clear. The decal placing guide
is large (two sides of A4) and clear, various options are explained in
sufficient detail. A painting guide is also included and, although small (half a
side of A4), is good enough to understand. The painting guide gives paint
matches for Humbrol, Tamiya, Gunze and Testor (where there are equivalents).
In any case, the Belgian F-16's
are painted FS36118 US Dark Grey, FS36270 US Medium Grey and FS36365 US Light
Grey.
According to Sylvain of Syhart
Decals, this sheet was with collaboration with 350th Fighter Squadron of the
Belgian Air Force.
The website for Syhart
Decals is great. I
definitely recommend you see his other offerings.
I am really looking forward to
using these.
Very highly recommended!
