This resin and photo etch set from Eduard is part of the Brassin series and is available directly from Eduard Model AccessoriesThis set includes one SSW D.III engine in 1/48 scale.

The Siemens-Schuckert Werke S.S.W. D III was a biplane fighter powered by the unusual Siemens-Halske Sh III engine, and that served as a home defence interceptor in Germany late in the First World War.

The D III was a development of the earlier S.S.W. D II. This aircraft had been designed specifically for the Sh III engine, but although the airframes were ready early in 1916 the engines didn't arrive until June. When the engines were available they were quickly installed, and flight tests began. These showed that the aircraft had a very impressive rate of climb, although its level speed wasn't quite so good.

This resin set includes:

  • one complete SSW D.III engine

  • three resin parts for the engine

  • photo etched parts to add further detailing

There are 2 pages of instruction in the usual line drawing format that Eduard is famous for and which are so easy to follow.  The instructions also include painting instructions.

This 11 cylinder air cooled rotary engine is loaded with delicate detail.  The cooling fins on the cylinders look fantastic along with the detail on top of the cylinder head.  Quite a bit of the engine is exposed on the Siemens-Schuckert Werke S.S.W. D III biplane fighter, so this engine would provide some excellent detail that would be quite easy to see.

You can buy this detail set and thousands of other items directly from Eduard Model Accessories.
