India Independence Day 2009

This is my build of Academy's MiG-21bis (C2776), from the No.26 Squadron, Indian Air Force.

The model is a MiG-21 bis, rather than an MF. Overall, this is a very good kit. The fit is generally excellent but it requires some filling and sanding. The cockpit, however is quite sparse and inaccurate

The painting was done with Humbrol Enamel, had a tough time masking and getting the colours right. as you can see from the picture of the real aircraft it has been painted and repainted. I have recreated this by painting 2 shades of green and tan camoflage. weathering was done using oil paints.  Indian Air Force website was a great help (http://www.Bharatrakshak.com).  The decals are from the box, I just changed the serial number on the aircraft to match the real aircraft.

Wishing all fellow Indians happy Independence Day. "Jai Hind"
