The history: the well known Hurricane was the first modern monoplane to enter in service in the RAF in 1937. During the 1940 she was the real backbone of the RAF, being more than the 60 per cent of the Fighter Command’s strength. She fought with great distinction, often flown by those superb pilots that were the Poles. We can say without doubt that the Hurricanes, together the Spitfires saved the British Isles and the World’s freedom. The model represents a 501 “County of London” Sqn. plane that was lost in the early afternoon of the August 15, 1940.

This relatively new entry of “Mummy Airfix” is in fact a perfect companion of the Spitfire of the same series. It’s a neat little kit, well done and cheap to purchase. It has the late model’s Rotol propeller and I built it OOB one more time. Colours are the same B. of B. range, being Dark Green 34079, Dark Earth 30118 and Sky Type ‘S’ 34424 (in the Humbrol range respectively H.116, H.118 and H.90).

I would like to dedicate it to all those heroic pilots, the famous “Few”, that fought and lost their lives for our freedom.
