This model represents CAG aircraft #200 BuNo 162688 of famous VF-84 “Jolly Rogers”. There is a plenty of Tomcats made in VF-84 Hi-Viz liveries over the internet, so I decided to build my Cat in some special painting schematic. I chose “Desert Storm Homecoming ‘91” decal set from Fightertown Decals. This aircraft had such livery at Aug 1991 during the last days of Desert Storm operation and was wearing it just for some months. I built my model using Hasegawa base F-14A kit; Aires cockpit, exhaust, wheel wells; and also Big Ed PE from Eduard. Due to using lots of aftermarket sets, panel lines were completely missed after sanding. I rescribed all of them again, this procedure took almost one month and huge amount of patience. After that model was primed, finally sanded, preshaded and painted using Gunze Sangyo Mr. Color lacquers. Prior to decaling I sprayed one coat of Future as usually. Decals from FTD have amazing quality, so it was a big pleasure to use them. After decaling I sprayed another coat of Future and did some weathering with Tamiya enamels. Finally I covered my model with Future mixed with Tamiya X-21 Flat Base (ratio was appr 1:6).

The armament has almost standard configuration – four Phoenixes (I really like them), two Sidewinders and two Sparrows. They were taken from Hasegawa Weapons sets 2 and 3.

Deck was built from paper, painted with watercolors; tow tractor is PWMP resin. Chains, hooks, towbar, chocks are scratchbuilding. Figures were taken from Hasegawa Deck Crew Set. This model was built specially for “US Navy” competition on my favorite modeling site www.scalemodels.ru . The whole online story you can find there http://scalemodels.ru/modules/forum/viewtopic_t_13305.html
