1/72 Fine Molds Tie Fighter

Another year goes by and here is my next kit entered in our (IPMS Ottawa) annual theme contest. The theme this year was Models from the Movies, so what to enter, think, hmmm, you can state the Homer Simpson discussion with his brain here if you wish, but I wanted something easy!! So what will be easily built OOB, hey, the Star Wars kits won't need any extra work, all right now which one? Well the Tie Fighter looks pretty nasty, let's go with that. So construction began, of course only a month and a half prior to the contest even with a year to do this!?!?

As stated it was OOB with tape seat belts added. You can see that funky sidewall in the cockpit pic above. Exterior painted with FS 35237 and the deflectors Satin Black, I added a bit of battle damage since these guys were at war with those 'rebel scum'! It was really quick to add, used a power tool with a 1/16" burr to make a small trench of a grazing laser cannon shot, then painted the inner part with goldish metallic paint and when it was all dry gave it a dusting with black chalk pastel crayon. This took all of 5 minutes total time, drying time excluded. The last pic above is Luke's view of Tie Fighters!

This was a fun build and resulted in a model that I am pretty pleased with. It will be at CapCon 2011 and Ajax 31 for those who wish to see it in person. Thanks for having a look.
