This model depicts a
SB2U-2 Vindicator of VS 3 stationed in Hawaii, autumn of 1941.
On December 30, 1940 a
BuAer directive was set forth stating that all of the exterior of ship based
aircraft were to be painted N.S. Light Gray, and all coding was to be N.S.
White. At this time the top Starboard and bottom Port wing insignias were
removed.
