This is a long overdue
standard paint scheme CF-18 Hornet. Built 50 Hornets now. Almost all are colour
birds. This one was built using Winter Valley decals. A new company started up
by a local ARC member.
The decals surprisingly
are not something covered by the excellent major Canadian decal provider. Pre
FiP markings which enable the builder to do a plane from initial delivery to
slightly after the first Gulf War.
After that Canada
switched to the looney leftist approved "postal truck" markings as you
would not want something offensive sounding like "ARMED FORCES"
painted on the side of the plane dropping bombs on your head.

The Winter Valley decals I used are for a 421 squadron plane. The only
421 "marked" plane noticed in use by the desert cats of 438 and 416 during
Desert Storm back in the day. (Before all the squadron markings
were removed). This is another nice thing about this sheet. Every squadron of the time is in there. Really lets you know how many
squadrons Canada has lost over the last 20 years of government cut backs.
The model itself went together easy enough. Built it enough times now,
nice to do one fully loaded for bear. Built for the escort group build.
