Malaysia National Day

Here's my rendition of Hornet F.Mk. 4 of No 45 Sqn based in Butterworth Malaya around May 1955 during Malayan Emergency. This hornet participated in Operation Firedog strike against Bandits in Malayan Jungle. The markings belonged to the CO's aircraft and photos I found of WF975 around this period show it to be pretty clean. WF975 also holds the distinction of being the only Hornet scrapped at Butterworth as engine troubles prevented it from making the trip down to Seletar with the others.

It's the 1/72 Special Hobby kit built out of box. The kit was a challenge to build but it's worth finishing as the Hornet is to me one of the prettiest twin prop aircraft ever.

This one is not as nice as it could be but I'm just glad to get it over and done with..

Happy Merdeka Day 2012
