India Independence Day

This model was built from kit no. 2715 1/48 Italeri Mig-21 MF Fishbed. The kit had fine parts with nice fit and a high quality printed decal sheet.  Being a MiG-21 and Indian Air Force aficionado, I like to build MiG-21s of all possible liveries of the IAF.  This was an effort to replicate the "C2283" of the 3rd Squadron of the IAF known as the "COBRAS".  This plane was flown by the Squadron Commander.  The Squadron has, as its emblem, a winged dagger clenched in a fist and entwined by a Cobra.

This was my first Airbrush project and I began with the cockpit.  I decided to keep the canopy closed.  Then came the task of painting the aircraft which consumed a lot of time.  I used local acrylic paints.  And it gave a good result and gave the bird - a deadly look.  The decals were then applied to complete the aircraft.  And at last, the landing gears were attached to the aircraft.

Finally, a little weathering touch was given and the model was ready.  So far, this is the best model I have ever made. I hope you guys like it.
