HK Models
kit in large scale is truly a magnificent offering in large scale
aircraft. I chose to do some exhaust mods as shown here. In that this was a
test shot for review, it arrived with a limited choice of decals, so after
a quick call to my custom decal “ go to” guy, Keith Davidson of Red
Pegasus Decals, we decided on “Executive Sweet”. This bird
belonged for a period of time to Challenge Publications and became a
member of the Confederate Air Force. It was later repainted in a less striking O.D. over grey scheme.

The base paint is Tamiya
rattle can “ Gloss Aluminum” lacquer followed by 7 colors of my personal
choice, Alclad ll. A full build article may be viewed on the IPMS/USA

Authors note:
This build is in reality two builds. Perhaps “Project Phoenix...Risen from the ashes” might have been a more appropriate title for this article. Originally, I was tasked to build Test shot 3 for the now defunct Wingscale Models.
However, as images show, while opening a fresh 5 gallon of lacquer, it literally exploded dousing the model, my workshop, and myself . Never seen this before nor since, my advise would use caution when you open a fresh can.
I'm truly pleased that HK Models
didn'`t let this offering die on the vine... It's one of the best
kits I've seen in my 65 years of modeling.
Enjoy
