Having served with the 101st ABN (AASLT) Division for nearly half of my career in the Army, I just could not justify not building a Black Hawk with the 101st patch on it. This was an old kit when I bought it and it had a few issues but they were easily tackled. I was not able to find any aftermarket 101st decals so I ended up using the ones the kit had which were very problematic due to their age. Although they had a few flaws, they turned up okay on this workhorse of a chopper. I made my own 101st color decal and used it in the front of the bird instead of the midget black decal included with the kit.

This was an OOB build and for improvements I only opened up a few of the air vents on the fuselage. I made the machine guns completely articulating as the brackets and the MG could be moved up, down and sideways. I have plenty of fond and "hooah" memories with this helicopter as well a few sad memories, and I dedicate this build to my unlucky buddies. "Though times don't last, BUT though men do" was written on a plaque at one of my former units with the 101st and everybody in the unit slapped it as we went out to training or into harm's way.

Enjoy the photos and I hope you like my chopper.
