Farman
F-195 Venezuela
Air Force
Farman F-190 aircraft were
high-wing monoplanes made in France. More than 150 planes were built in various
versions, usually with different types of engines. It was normally used for air
transport, with a capacity of one pilot and four passengers.
The Venezuelan Military
Aviation acquired, in 1929, six Farmans, which were called F-195, with a Salmson
230CV engine, and some equipped with weapons. These aircraft soon acquired a bad
name due to their poor performance and visible fragility. Pioneer military
pilots called it the "flying ballot box." The first victim of the
Venezuelan military aviation was the pilot Vicente Landaeta, who suffered an
accident landing in the city of Barquisimeto in 1931. Two other pioneer pilots
also died in accidents in a Farman F -195. The other three planes also suffered
accidents but without fatalities.

This Farman 195 model, in 1/48 scale, was
totally scratchbuilt, I showing some pictures of the building. For the
construction I used: plastic sheets (styrene and acetate) of different
thicknesses, styrene strips, some leftover pieces from other models,
modified and adapted to the Farman, a small piece of wood for the propeller and
other building materials.
