On October 4th IPMS
Israel had its annual model show at the Israeli Air Force museum. Although
our club is small in terms of both number of members and budget, the show
was very successful, had a variety of scales, subjects and skill levels and
had a relatively large number of visitors that came to see the big planes but
found the small ones equally interesting (in other words "Location,
Location, Location").
I chose to put here
mainly pics that reflect my personal taste for two reasons.
1) To refute
the myth that we are all about IAF and nothing else and
2) Those are the
only pics I have, because at the time I didn't think of journalistic
integrity.
This model came
to be the Best of Show. It actually looks better in real life.
The yellow portion of the tiger pattern is not part of the decal and had
to be painted on. |

Here are a few general views
of the exhibition tables. The left pic shows my
contributions to the show right beside those of my friend Danny whom you
can see in the bottom left corner of the picture (now, how did THAT
happen?) .
After having
'slight' trouble rigging the big Tamiya Swordfish you can imagine what was
my first thought when I saw this one. |

Some WWII pacific
aircraft :
And
here are some models you don't see so much as others on shows or the web sites :
Dornier Do-24T ,Do-18G-1 and a PZL-11C .
But its alright, we can
all stay calm as we have our share of Bf-109's to :

And on
to something modern :
I like close support mission
aircraft, so this marine is my absolute favorite in this years show.
Built OOTB with minor additions like the Remove Before Flight ribbons:

This one made me
wonder how big a shuttle model will be in my scale - 1/48 but more
importantly, where I will be able to put such a thing. |

And we should not
neglect the armor boys :
Well, I hope you all enjoyed my
little presentation. There were quite a few more models to see as well
as the real aircraft that served as a background for the show. The Black
Spitfire that is maintained buy dedicated IAF technicians as well as a
Stearman trainer flew above that day and it was fun to spend a day of models.
Great finale for the summer break
just before the start of another academic year.
