1/24 Trumpeter Spitfire Mk Vb Part II

This has been one project I have enjoyed from day one. Trumpeter's kit is nice and I built it mostly as it comes in the box. Extra detailing in the engine compartment and cockpit were added. Most of the extras came from bits of everything imaginable and a set of seat belts by Cutting Edge.

I used the kits decals, which are thin and looked good. I was not convinced by choice of colour for the identification band and code letters. I decided to paint the band and letters in ³Sky type S². All of my research pointed me towards that particular colour. In order to use the kits decals I had to make a mixture of setting, softening and adhesive solutions to help the decals snug down. The concoction worked as a charm! There was no decal film silvering and the decals really conformed even to the smallest of details.

I hope to have this kit finished by the end of the month. I moved to a new home in the summer and not until now I have started to work on models again.
Happy modeling!
