1/32 Tamiya F-4D

--------------------

I built this model in a year. All the surfaces were sanded enough to reduce the depth of the engraved panel lines. Except for the parachute, the ejection seats were scratch built. The main modification was to the landing gear which were also scratch built. The landing gear attachment screw was very unpleasant indeed for the scale. Moreover, white metal and plastic components weren’t detailed enough in my own opinion. So, they are built from aluminium tubes and plasticard. Only the wheels are from the kit. The trailing edges are too thick, so I reduced them for hours by scratching the surfaces with a blade. In the same way, spoilers were replaced by others made from aluminium sheet. The aircraft is painted with Gunze references.  I hope you enjoy seeing my model. See you soon on ARC.

The model represents the F-4D, 66-554 while it was assign to the 555th TFS, 432nd TRW on july 21, 1971. The aircraft had been credited with two MIG-17 kills on November 6, 1967. Snoopy and Thaï inscription are painted. We can see on the air intake safety pins and a bottle of alcohol with an a rag used by ground staff for cleaning the canopy. In this configuration, the aircraft is waiting to be armed for the next mission.
