One
of a few of my F-8's in 48th scale, which is a Hasegawa kit and I found
the cockpit to be less detailed than the Revell kit. This is one of the
more recent releases from Hasegawa and it is excellent and it does have enough
detail to build it out of the box, but in my opinion all the same......it would be possible
to open the air-brake door and the kits looks much better with the air brake in
the deployed position.

The
Aires airbrake conversion set allowed me to correct this defect, but it was a
tricky set for me to find, but installing it wasn't too difficult. The
refueling probe was scratchbuilt and the cockpit is from Aires. One more
thing lacking on this kit is the weapons, but I already expect this from
Hasegawa, therefore AGM-12B Bullpup were borrowed from one of their weapons
sets.
It
took about about two months to assemble and paint this F-8, with breaks to work
on others kits. For finishing, I used ModelMaster acrylic. Weathering was accomplished with a multicoloured
pastel chalks and water color. Decals were from many sources including the
kit and a Revell kit and the letters AJ are painted on.
The
assembly
process was easy and a great pleasure to me.
