This MiG-15bis
represents an aircraft flown by S. Fedorets of the Soviet Union from April to
July of 1953 during the Korean War. Fedorets shot down an F-86 belonging
to a USAF pilot by the name of McConnell on April 12, 1953 whilst flying this
jet.
I used a KMC MiG-15 cockpit detail set to detail the cockpit. I highly
recommend this set as the kit cockpit is quite sparse.

Construction of the kit was quite
straightforward. Once all the major components were together the canopy
was masked and the kit was airbrushed with Floquil Bright Silver enamel.
This was left to harden for a couple of days. Then the camouflage scheme
was airbrushed using an Aztec A470 with the Tan tip and Gunze Sangyo acrylic
paints.
The Gunze Sangyo paint was heavily thinned and sprayed at approximately 15 P.S.I.
Once dry, some of the camouflage scheme was removed with either masking tape or
a scalpel, revealing the metal color underneath.
The model was then sealed with a
gloss varnish coat and decals applied. The decals were a mixture of
AeroMaster and Cutting Edge decals. The number "16" was sprayed
through a mask. Once the decals were dry the model was sealed with gloss
varnish and the panel lines were enhanced with acrylic paint. AeroMaster
matt varnish was used to produce a flat finish
