1/48 Tamiya P-51 Mustang III

If I only had one model to build I think the choice would come down to the Tamiya P-51B/D.  For ease of build, accuracy and colour options these kits have it all.  This one is the P-51 Mustang III built in RAF markings FB166 of 315 "Deblinski" Squadron, a Polish squadron.  The Mustang III was widely used for sweeps, fighter/bomber missions and interception of the V-1 rocket.  The RAF Mustang squadrons were also to make a name for themselves escorting RAF Coastal Command Strike Wings on long range missions protecting Mosquito and Beaufighters attacking Axis shipping.

I built the kit out of the box only adding a pilot from PJ productions (I think!) It went together in a weekend such is the ease of fit.

I used paints from Tamiya and varnish from Polyscale.  Decals were from Techmod and went on brilliantly.  This kit is well recommended for anyone who's in need of some modelling therapy.
